Wadsworth was a Private in Young's Harbor Guards at the outbreak of the War Between the States. On April 22, 1861 he was transferred to Captain Grandy's Company, VA Light Artillery (Norfolk Light Artillery Blues). He was captured on April 2, 1865 during the fall of Petersburg, Virginia and was transferred to Point Lookout yankee prison, Maryland and was released on May 21, 1865.
