Adult Film Director, Writer. He is best known for his work as the director of the 1972 adult film classic "Deep Throat." Shot in six days on a minimal budget, the motion picture introduced Linda Lovelace as a household name across the country, earning the film an estimated $600 million dollars by the year 2005. Denounced for its graphic sexual content by both religious and feminist leaders following its release, the film became a focal point for numerous court challenges throughout the United States, concerning first amendment rights and the government's interpretation of laws relating to obscenity and pornography. In addition to his work on "Deep Throat," his other notable film credits include: "The Devil in Miss Jones" (1973), "The Story of Joanna" (1975), "For Richer, For Poorer" (1979), "Consenting Adults" (1982), "Dirty Movies" (1989) and "Naked Goddess 2." He died following a stroke at the age of 80.
