Melba was born to Curry and Blanche (Tillman) Rutledge. She married Kenneth L. Ashwood on Feb. 13, 1947, in Ipava, Ill. He died on Feb. 8, 1995.
She is survived by three daughters, Sheryl (Gerald) McCullough, Marsha (Alvin) Duckweiler and Lori Haynes; one son, Kenneth K. (Verna) Ashwood; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one daughter, Karen Ashwood, and six brothers preceded her in death.
Melba retired from Kroger, where she worked in the produce department.
