Mr. Stephenson died about 7:10 p.m. August 12 in the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born May 18, 1923 in Dickens County and lived here most of his life. He was a farmer. He married Gracie Pearl Gage March 15, 1940 in Dickens. She died on March 16, 1981. He then married Ruth Slawson, November 7, 1982 in Alto, Texas. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Stephenson, Dickens; three sons, Monroe Stephenson, Afton and James and Barney Stephenson, both of Alto; one step-son, Lee Francis, San Angelo; a daughter, Bonnie Hawkins, Shallowater; two step-daughters, Nancy Harmon of San Angelo and Becky Niendorff, Columbia, South Carolina; a brother, Jim Stephenson, Memphis and three sisters, Grace Fendley, Port Lavaca and Robena Watts and Lucille Stanley, both of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
