Lydia Wolcott Austin was the daughter of Dr. Alexander Wolcott, Surgeon during the Revolutionary War, and Lydia Atwater of New Haven. She married Samuel Austin Dec. 6, 1759 and they had three children: Samuel (1770-1830, William (1762-1833) and Lydia (1764-1849).

Inscription

"In memory of Mrs. Lydia Austin ___ Mrs. Samuel Austin of New Haven. She died May 6th, 1820 in th 83rd year of her age. This stone is erected by her children to whom she was much endeared by her maternal virtues."
