OBITUARY FOR Clarence Briggs
(Galesburg Register-Mail 10 Mar 1960)

CLARENCE BRIGGS MAQUON - Clarence Max Briggs, 55, of Maquon, died Wednesday at1:10 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg. He had been a patient there for the past two weeks.

Mr. Briggs was born May 1, 1904 in Galesburg and lived here until five years ago when he moved to Maquon. He was a farmer. He married Miss Jennie Slagel in 1953 in Galesburg and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Clarence Jr and Wayne Leroy,both of Galesburg, and Gene of Elba Center; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Thompson of Galesburg and Mrs. Darlene Thompson of Gilson; a brother Frank of Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Marian Welch and Mrs. Alta Boone, both of Galesburg; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Maquon. Friends may call at the Root-Davis Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Maquon Cemetery.
