Phillip Wayne Robertson, 72, of Florence, SC, died Monday, March 24, 2008, in a Florence hospital. He was born December 6, 1936, in Mullins, West Virginia, to Lenora Backus Robertson and the late Arvid Robertson.
He was a graduate of Mullens, WVA High School in 1954. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Robertson returned to West Virginia where he met and married Edith Faye Clayborne, June 20, 1959. He attended Concord College and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WVA. Mr. Robertson retired from Huntington Alloys in 1989 and went on to teach school in Chesterfield County, SC, and Florence, SC, retiring again in 2003. He was a member of Saint John's Episcopal Church.
Among his survivors, in addition to his wife of the home and his mother of Mullens, WVA, are: Sons, Matthew Robertson of Florence, SC, and Steven James Robertson of Huntington, WVA; daughter Jennifer McRoy of Elmwood, TN; grandchildren Gwendolyn Robertson of Albany, OR, and Cody Dowell of Elmwood, TN; brothers, David Robertson of Glen Allen, VA, and Bill Robertson of The Villages, FL; sisters, Mary Yates of Williamsburg, VA, and Sara Rodgers of Bethlehem, PA.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
