Jennie Boone Griffith, age 96, of Twin Oaks Lane in Spruce Pine, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at her residence.
A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late James and Bessie Willis Boone and wife of the late Earl Griffith. She was preceded in death by one son; Earl Ray Griffith; two daughters; Helen Wilson and Catherine Griffith; a daughter-in-law; Debbie Griffith and a son-in-law; Bud Carpenter. Jennie was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jeter Boone and Howard Boone; and four sisters; Ora Woody; Viola Willis; Effie Swann; and Willie Griffith. She was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. The Rev's. David Philbeck, Ronnie Gouge, and Jimmy Upton will officiate the services. Interment will be in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
Mrs. Griffith is survived by four sons; Jack Griffith and wife, Janice of Spruce Pine; James Griffith and wife, Nina of Marion; Frank Griffith and wife, Rosie of Marion; and Dean Griffith of Spruce Pine; two daughters; Ora Allen and husband, Arthur of Spruce Pine and Carolyn Carpenter of the home; foster son; Bill Ball and wife, Ellen of St. Albans, WV; daughter-in-law; Pat Griffith; son-in-law; Floyd Wilson; sister; Emma Lou Wilson and husband, Bert of Spruce Pine; a brother; Homer Boone and wife, Joyce of Bakersville; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
