Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served as a Private in Company M, 3d US Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on September 9, 1876 at Slim Buttes, Montana. His citation reads "Special bravery in endeavoring to dislodge Indians secreted in a ravine".
