ABEL FUNERAL HELD THURSDAY
Services Conducted From Methodist Episcopal Church

Relatives and friends assembled at the First Methodist church Thursday afternoon to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of Helen Jackson Able, the fair young bride of Herschell Abel, who lay in her casket surrounded by a wealth of floral emblems, mute testimonials of the love and affection with which she was held in life.
Rev. Clyde S. Black, pastor of the church, presided and his words were of tender vein. In the eulogy her sterling qualities were noted. Her short span of twenty years, was spent in this city in the haven of her home. She was the idol of her father and stepmother, as she was an unusually loving and dutiful daughter. Her loyalty to her affianced, whom she had joined in Miami only a short time ago and to whom she was married two weeks was mentioned. The distrait mind, clinging to one in the South, and desiring the parents in the North, hastened her end. Her affection for her friends, among whom were members of her B. H. S. class of 1928 was noted. Many of them were among the mourners on this occasion. She was devoted to her church, where since a wee child she had gone to Sunday school. Her personality won friends for her wherever her path led.
Rev. Black spoke to the bereaved ones in the words of St. John, who said, "Let not your hearts be troubled, I go to prepare a place for you." He prayed that God in His infinite mercy would bring surcease of sorrow to the grief-stricken parents and sister, until the veil of time dropped over the memory of their dear one's sojourn on earth to bring to them only the brighter realization of her frail existence here being merged into that eternal bliss, and they can feel that human love is a gain divine -- unending.

Mrs. Frank Jones and Mrs. Roy Bailey, with Mrs. R. S. Lowery accompanist, sang "He Knows It All": and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me."
The flowers were in charge of Faith and Anna Brannaman, Iva and Geneva Brown, Evelyn Hirscher, Charline Byers, Lorene Tincher.
The pall bearers were Mazel Martin, Katie Norman, Avis Duncan, Irene Mitchell, Mary Kimbrell,
Anna Butterfield, Blanch Fitzgibbons, Olive Brock, all personal friends of the deceased.

Burial was made in Green Hill cemetery.
