My mother was the daughter of Emil A and Bertha; wife of E. P. Snellbaker, Jr; mother of Edward, Jack, Millie, Arthur and Carolanne.

While living in Blackwood, New Jersey, Mother worked in Camden, New Jersey at a cigar factory. She later worked at Esterbrook Pen Factory, also in Camden. After moving to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in early 1946, she worked as a waitress.
