Jerry L. Warthan, 66, of Ellettsville, died Monday at 1:11 p.m. at Bloomington Hospital.

He was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Huntington, Ind., to William Warthan and Fayetta Madcalf Warthan.

Jerry farmed for more than 30 years, drove a school bus for 35 years and has been employed with Indiana University for 24 years. He was adopted into the Figg Family — Nelson and Eunice Figg — in May of 1961. Jerry enjoyed taking a 1967 Mustang fastback to car shows where he received many trophies.

Jerry was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be missed by all.

He was a member of the Old Dutch Community Church where he taught Sunday school, sang and played his guitar. He was a member of the Cruisin' Classics of Bloomington, Ind., and the NRA.

He was married to Treva Figg Warthan.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Steve Warthan (Becky), of Ellettsville; one daughter, Alisa Hough (Grant), of Ellettsville; four grandchildren, Brianna Warthan, Stephanie Warthan, Ben Hough and Ethan Hough; three brothers, Clarence Warthan (Joetta), of Bloomington, Charles Warthan (Mariann), of Bloomington and Donald Warthan, of Gosport; two sisters, Judy Hartgraves (Jim), of Solsberry and Margaret Hill, of Bloomington; one sister-in-law, Vera Figg; two brothers-in-law, Sam Figg (Jody) and Tim Figg (Vicki); and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chandler Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Chandler Funeral Home with Brother Ron Hawkins and Neil Kunkel officiating. The place of internment is the Old Dutch Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Warthan.
