Hiram was the eldest child born to William J. Amburgey and Elizabeth Stamper. Hiram married Leodicy Adams on March 7, 1872. They had 12 children: 1. Lucinda b. 12/12/1874 2. Jesse b. 04/29/1877 3. Rochester b. 03/03/1879 4. Bessie b. 12/23/1880 5. Cordelia b. 10/30/1882 6. Cornelia b. 10/30/1882 7. Elizabeth b. 03/07/1885 8. Sarah b. 02/11/1887 9. Nancy b. 05/27/1889 10. Ada b. 06/23/1891 11. John b. 11/28/1893 12. Ollie b. 09/30/1895. Hiram owned a local store, and he was quite prosperous in the community.

*They may have had one additional child named William C. Amburgey. Born about 1874 and Died 08-15-1876.
