It is with grieving hearts that we announce that our beloved mother passed away early Sunday morning May 16, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Harbour Le Cou, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Irene (Matthews) Rideout, having lived the past 53 years in North Sydney.
Mom was an active congregant of St. John's Anglican Church, North Sydney, where she was a member of the ACW and past Altar Guild member. She also held an honorary membership with the North Sydney Pensioners Club, and membership with the LOBA Lodge and True Blue Lodge. In her younger years, she was a very active member in these organizations.
Mom will always be remembered for her love of and the joy she experienced with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed many happy times with her friends, especially playing cards, dancing at the Orange Hall and shopping. She saw each day as a gift and we will remember her most for her tenacity and her strong will to live independently. Mom read her Bible every day and we pray to God she is finally at peace.
She will be greatly missed by her three remaining children, Ruth Styles, North Sydney, Marie Bungay, Sydney, Roy Butt, Newfoundland. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Aida Turner, Glace Bay, Vera (Calvin) Collett, Newfoundland.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Stanley Butt, her son, Albert Butt, her daughter, Alma Hoddinott, her great-grandson, Matthew LeBlanc and her brother, Robert Rideout Sr.
Visitation for Marjorie will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 3 p.m. from St. John Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
