My grandmother Vallie is buried at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Christ Cemetery at Lodi Texas in a family plot closed to the front fence, with her infant daughter and her parents, Mamie and James Henry Tolleson, and Mamie's parents, Shadrack and Mary Pope Carter. She had three brothers James Aubrey, Welton and Olen Tolleson. Her mother Mamie Eugenia Carter Tolleson died during the Spanish Influenza epidemic when she was 12 or 13 years old. She was raised by her father and step-mom "Miss Eller". She was married to Thomas Floyd Wilcox, they had 4 children, 3 died in infancy, my father James is the oldest child. They divorced in the mid 40's then she married Mr. Cleo Clinkscale they lived in Marshall Texas. Cleo passed in 1966, then she and Floyd remarried. She lived her entire life in East Texas. My dad's best memory of her was her canned peaches he said he and his dad would eat a gallon of them all at one time. She was a seamstress, worked in a mattress factory, refinished furniture and worked as a nurse's aid in a rest home. She was only 4'11" I miss her.
