Elaine Rita Power Argote passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by Frank Argote, her beloved husband. Daughter of the late Alma Marks Power and John Emmett Power. Elaine was born in New Orleans on March 24, 1924. She later lived with her family in Houston and Chicago. She graduated from St. Scholastica High School in Chicago and attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas, where she made life long friends. She returned to New Orleans with her parents in the 1940's and worked for South Central Bell Phone Co. In 1950, she married the love of her life and they had 2 children. She worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Charity School of Nursing. In retirement Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren, who truly loved their Granny. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, gatherings of the Roman Street Pokeno Club and a Sewing Circle of friends. She later enjoyed church activities and playing bridge with friends at St. Francis Xavier Church and the Metairie Towers Community.
She is survived by her children, Linda Marie Argote and Michael Gerard Argote and was the mother-in-law of Dennis Epple and Debbie Caballero Argote. She was the grandmother of Matthew Christopher Argote, Jennifer Elizabeth Argote, Lindsey Michelle Argote and Stephen Dennis Epple. Her sister, Gwendolyn Power Dickinson, brother-in-law, Jack Dickinson and sister-in-law, Mary Argote, and many nieces, nephews, and friends survive her. Elaine was 86 years old. She will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 -12:00 followed by a Funeral Mass in the Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 pm.
