He graduated from SHS with the Class of 1961.

Private First Class, U.S. Army
David Moncavage was a Scottsdale resident who attended Camelback High School & graduated from Scottsdale High School. He attended Arizona State University before being drafted into the Army in 1967. PFC Moncavage served as a Corpsman with Headquarters and Headquarters Company of 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division. During a battle in the Gia Dinh Province on February 14, 1968, PFC Moncavage treated wounded from not only his company but another company across an open field as well. He did this amid massive enemy fire and shrapnel. He eventually rejoined his platoon and volunteered to serve as an infantryman, and was killed while trying to destroy a fortified enemy bunker with a hand grenade. For his actions, PFC Moncavage was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in July 1968. He was also awarded the Purple Heart.
