US Congressman. Elected to represent Iowa, first as an At Large Delegate, then from the 2nd District, in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1846 to 1851. Ran as a Democrat for the Iowa Governorship in 1875, losing to Samuel J. Kirkwood. He was the younger brother of Virginia Congressman Isaac Leffler.
