He liked to refer to himself as C.E. Martin.

His family was living in Oshawa, Ontario in 1881. The census listed him as 'Elsie', apparently a nickname of his middle name.

He graduated from Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada in 1890. Trinity is a prestigious boarding school founded in 1865 and is still around today.

His family was living in Toronto in 1891. He is listed as a 'student' in the census. He should have been attending Trinity University at this time.

He earned his medical degree from Trinity University in Toronto in 1895.

He married Miriam Gertrude Carter in Vancouver, British Columbia on the 18 December 1895. She was attending nursing school in Vancouver. It is not clear if they met in Vancouver or Ontario. However, their fathers were both medical doctors from Ontario along with a number of other doctors in the family.

Daughter Sarah Madeline was born May 17, 1897 in Coupeville, Island County, Washington. Records indicate she was baptised there soon after. Likewise, daughter Ada Virginia was born in Coupeville on August 3, 1898.

By June 1900, C.E. and Miriam along with daughters Madeline and Virginia were living in Lynden, Washington near the Canadian border.

In April 1910 they also had daughter Ethel and were living in Seattle. My grandmother, Mary Patricia, would be born 2 months later.

In September 1918, he filled out a WWI Draft Registration Card. He indicates that he worked as a doctor for both the Wilkeson Medical Association and the Spiketon Medical Association. Spiketon is a former coal mining town on South Prairie Creek named for William D.C. Spike. There is still a Wilkeson-Spiketon Road in the area today.

In January 1920 they were living in Wilkeson. Miriam sought a divorce sometime in the 1920s and Dr. Martin subsequently married Elsie Elizabeth Carlson in June of 1926.

The 'Directory of Deceased American Physicians' lists the following locations and dates associated with his medical license:
*Bellingham, Washington, 1895
*Wilkeson, Washington, May 18, 1914
*Enumclaw, Washington, July 1, 1923
*Buckley, Washington, January 7, 1927

Dr. Martin died February 28, 1928 in Buckley of tuberculosis. His obituary says he is to be intered in the Buckley Cemetery, but no marker can be found and the Cemetery records do not include him. Does anybody have any additional information or perhaps other photos?
