Sandra Jo (Sabol) Alfonso, 62, of Las Cruces, N.M., formerly of Ellwood City, died Monday, March 24, 2003, in the Las Cruces Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1940, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Cassandra Gail Sable, she was employed as a phlebotomist by the Ellwood City Hospital and the worked at Trader Horn in Christy's Plaza. In 1996, she became a co-owner with her husband of the Main Street Cafe in New Castle, which she sold in 1999. A Presbyterian by faith, she was a 1958 graduate of New Brighton High School.

She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Emil "Amey" Alfonso, whom she married Aug. 13, 1960.

Surviving are a daughter, Cassandra Alfonso, Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons, Kirk Alfonso and Teresa Washington, New Brighton, and Guy Alfonso, Las Cruces; a brother, Barry Sabol, Colorado Springs, Colo., and five grandchildren.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at noon in the SAMUEL TEOLIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock cemetery.
