Actor. Born Rudy Warner Robbins, after serving in the US Army, he began his career in Hollywood as a horse trainer and stuntman in 1959. While working on film location in Texas, he became good friends with actor John Wayne and was featured in his first speaking role in "The Alamo" (1960). He also appeared with Wayne in the films "McClintock" (1963), "The Green Berets" (1968) and "Rio Lobo" (1970). His other film credits included "Two Rode Together" (1961), "Cheyenne Autumn" (1964), "The Rounders" (1965) and "Sugarland Express" (1974). For television, he was best remembered for the role of Josh Cutler in NBC's "Daniel Boone" and as a double for star James Arness on CBS's "Gunsmoke". In 1967, he was selected by the US Department of Commerce to go to Europe as "Cowboy Goodwill Ambassador" and he also toured worldwide with a cast of 125 cowboys, cowgirls and Indians, in Montie Montana Jr.s, "Buffalo Bill Wild West Show". He is a recipient of the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures Award, Texas Stuntmen's Association Award and the Outstanding Cowboy of the 20th Century Award. Cause of death: cancer.
