Woodland Ward Anderson IV died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in a tragic automobile accident.

He was born on July 22, 1972, in Newport News, Virginia, the son of Ward and Martha Hayes Anderson. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Billy and Laura Williams and Ward Anderson Jr.

Woods attended Tandem School in Charlottesville and The Stony Brook School in New York, and received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Sound Arts from the Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Berkeley, California.

He is survived by his parents; his younger brother, Matthew Mitchell Anderson of Cairo, Egypt; and his younger sister, Laura Meriwether Anderson of Washington, D.C.

Woods lived on the West Coast of the United States for much of his life in San Francisco, California, Eugene, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He returned to Virginia and joined his father in real estate management and his presence and contributions to Meriwether Hills will be greatly missed. He was an avid lover of music and a skilled sound technician, working often with The Paramount Theater, the Charlottesville Pavilion, and other venues.

There was a graveside service at Riverview cemetery Saturday, March 5, 2011, for family and friends, followed by a memorial service at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Greg Thompson officiating.
