Mrs. Maude Coons, 69, of 1227 East Jackson street, died yesterday morning at Ball Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Coons was the widow of Ira Coons, former chief of police. She was a member of the M.E. Church.

Surviving are one son, John D. Coons, and two brothers, Elmer Dewey of Marquette, Kan., and Charles T. Dewey of Youngstown, Ohio.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in the Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence this afternoon.
