Malena Mary (Robbins) Ardery, 93 formally of Greensburg, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Ethicus Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. Malena was born in Decatur County on June 9, 1917, the daughter of Walter W. and Grace M. (Ferris) Robbins. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1935. Malena worked as Deputy Clerk for the Decatur County Circuit Court and as Court Reporter for the 69th Judicial Court in Greensburg. On January 5, 1952, Malena married veterinarian David H. Ardery and they had two children, Susan and Joan. Malena was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Alpha Alumnae Chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, a 50+ year member of the Lois Chapter #147, a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, dancing and playing cards. She shared her husband's love of animals and assisted him in his veterinary practice until his death in 1988. She is survived by two daughters Susan Ardery Simmons (Dennis E.) of San Rafael, California, and Joan Ardery (Victor A.Vera) of Keller, Texas, her brother-in-law Robert Ardery (Elizabeth) and sister-in-law Ruth (Ardery) McHenry of Indianapolis as well as nephew Roy R. Robbins (Marge) of Greensburg and niece Bettylyn (Robbins) Hanna (David) of Indianapolis. She also has nieces and nephews in Decatur County, Indianapolis and Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Wilma Robbins, and two brothers Gerald and Roy Robbins. A visitation will take place Sunday, February 27 from 12PM to 4PM at the Gilliland – Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, with a Rosary Service beginning at 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will take place Monday, February 28 at 10AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Oldenburg Academy.
