Rode with William Quantrill and General Joseph Shelby during the civil war. Also with General Sterling Price during the 1863 raid through Missouri. When Jesse James was killed in St. Joseph Missouri, Joel Hudspeth and Benjamin Morrow (also buried in this cemetery) were sent from Jackson County, Missouri, to St. Joseph, Missouri, to identify the body of Jesse James. Benjamin Morrow was a pall bearer at the funerals of both Jesse and Frank James.
