US Congressman. Born on a farm near Salem, Missouri, he entered the ministry in 1880, plus engaged in agricultural pursuits, saw-milling and mining. He moved to Stanton County, Kansas, in 1885, served on the county register of deeds, (1886-89), then moved to Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1892 and engaged in agricultural pursuits. In 1897, he was elected on the Free Silver ticket to the Fifty-fifth Congress, serving until 1899. Not a candidate for renomination, he settled in Enid, Oklahoma and was the publisher of the Jacksonian newspaper until he retired in 1913. He died at age 82 in Enid, Oklahoma.
