US Congressman. Born in near Long Pine, Nebraska, he moved with his parents to Lacona, Iowa and engaged in the mercantile business, (1901-14). Relocating to Ohio, he was president of the Clevenger Stores in Bowling Green, (1915-26) and manager of the F. W. Uhlman Stores in Bryan, (1927-38). In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth Congress and to the next nine succeeding Congresses, serving until 1959. He died at age 75 in Tiffin, Ohio.
