Ida Lillian Sherman was the daughter of Buel Sherman 1825 and Celia Louise Page. Her parents moved from Illinois to Fredericksburg, Chickasaw, Iowa by 1860 when she was 5 years old. She married Albert Streeter Caulkins in Republic, Chickasaw, Iowa on August 23, 1882.

The couple lived in Storm Lake, Buena Vista, Iowa, and later moved to Ceres, Sanislaus County, California.

The couple had two children:

Earl Alden Caulkins 1885, married Helene Olson, lived in Storm Lake, Iowa and later in Ceres, California, five children.

Una Caulkins 1890, married James Ray Beam, lived in Ceres, Stanislaus, California, four children.

Rites Are Held For Mrs. Ida Caulkins

Final rites were conducted this afternoon in the Shannon Chapel for Mrs. Ida L. Caulkins, 83, for twenty seven years a resident of Ceres, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Una Beam, in Ceres after a brief illness.

Rev. F. C. Nelson officiated, and interment was in the Ceres Cemetery.

Mrs. Caulkins was a native of Illinois. Besides her daughter, she leaves her husband, Albert S Caulkins, and a son, Earl A Caulkins of Ceres. She was a sister of M. R. Sherman of Modestro and Mrs. Dora Gordon of Louisiana. She leaves also nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
