John Jack Carey, of Avon, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away May 31, at Tufts Medical Center after a brief illness. A veteran, Jack served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He worked for the telephone company for over 41 years and was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 2222. Jack was an avid hockey fan who coached Mohawk Youth Hockey and refereed in the South Shore Conference League. His greatest enjoyment was being with his grandchildren and playing golf with friends. Jack is survived by his longtime wife, Charlotte (Delaney) Carey of Avon; his daughter, Christine Flanagan and her husband Brian; his son, Michael P. Carey; three grandchildren, Brendan, Andrew and Owen Flanagan. He was the devoted brother-in-law to Sheila and Gene Anderson and Dorothy Martell. Also survived by four nephews. Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Randolph, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Michaels Cemetery, Avon.
