Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company A, 74th New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 3, 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia. His citation reads "Bravely advanced to the enemy's line under heavy fire and brought back valuable information."
