North Dakota Governor. He served as Governor of North Dakota from 1891 to 1893. He served during the Civil War as a Musician (drummer boy) in Company D, 75th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, being mustered in on July 17, 1862, and being discharged due to disability on January 5, 1863. Only 12 years old at the time of his enlistment, he was the youngest member of his Company.
