Religious Leader. He served as the first Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Washington, D.C. from 1895 until his death in 1908. He had a huge participation in the construction of Washington National Cathedral, and in 1895 wrote the book, "A Creedless Gospel And The Gospel Creed" (1895).
