Cinematographer. Lauron "Jack" Draper* was born March 5, 1897 in Spencer, Owen County, Indiana. He was the son of Forest Harry and Bernice "Bammye" Draper. He married a lady by the name of Lucille and they had three children: Betty (born 1922) and Lauron A. Draper Jr. (born November 1927) and another daughter. Lauron moved his family to California where he used his skills to become a cinematographer. He worked with many popular stars from his era such as Johnny Weissmuller "Tarzan and the Mermaids", William Lundigan "Mystery in Mexico", Robert Stack "The Bullfighter and the Lady", Glenn Ford "Plunder in the Sun", George Montgomery and Peter Garves "Robber's Roost", Bruce Bennett and Lon Chaney, Jr. "Daniel Boone, Trail Blazer" and Kit Carson "Forbidden Trails" among many others. Eventually he moved to Mexico City, Mexico where he went on to be the cinematographer in many popular Mexican movies. On September 24, 1962 Lauron died at his home in Mexico City following a stroke. He was 65 years old.

*Given name was Lauron Draper. In most films he is credited as Jack Draper (which is the name he preferred to use). Others he is credited as Lauren, Lauron or Loren Draper.

Lauron Draper, 65, Dies at Mexico City

Lauron Draper, 65 years old, a retired movie photographer, and son of Mrs. Charles B. Ocheltree, of Spencer, died September 24 at his home in Mexico City, following a stroke. His father, Forest Draper, is deceased.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters and one son, his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Ocheltree of Spencer, and a number of cousins.

A brother, Claude Draper and wife of Lafayette flew to Mexico City, after receiving the news of his sudden death. They will remain until after the funeral rites.
