U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Ridgefield Academy in 1870 and became successful in the retail liquor business until retiring in 1898. Entering politics, he was a member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives (1903-04) and served in the Connecticut State Senate, (1905-09). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was Mayor of Norwalk, (1917-21).
