US Congressman. Elected as a Federalist to represent Massachusetts' 5th District in the Eighth Congress, he served from 1803 to 1805. A 1778 graduate of Harvard College, Dwight spent virtually his whole life in his hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was a practicing attorney. Prior to his election to Congress he was a member of the State House of Representatives (1794 to 1795) and the State Senate (1796 to 1803), and afterwards he was selectman of Springfield (1806 to 1809, 1811) and a member of the Governor's Council (1808 to 1809).
