U.S. Congressman. Born in Maryland, New York, he engaged in agricultural, mercantile, and milling pursuits throughout Otsego County. In 1853, he was elected as a Whig to the 33rd Congress, serving until 1855. Declining to be a candidate for re-election, he resumed his former agricultural and business interests until his death at age 57.
