US Congressman. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent West Virginia's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1907 to 1911. He was defeated in 1890. Also served as a Member of the West Virginia State House of Delegates from 1881 to 1882, Candidate for the West Virginia State Attorney General in 1888, and Delegate to the Republican National Convention from West Virginia in 1912.
