Jessie Emily was the daughter of George and Emily Ross, she was born in Poplar on April 4th 1893.

She recieved her confirmation and first communion at Christ Church, Tenterfield on December 11th 1938 and married William Arthur Harper Handley at St Mathias Church, Poplar. on April 28th 1916.

By the birth of her first child, William Harper Handley in 1921, she had emmigrated to Glen Innes, New South Wales, where her second son, Robert Allan Handley was also born in 1925. Her first daughter, Beryl Jessie Handley, was born at Tamworth, New South Wales in 1926 and died there two years later. Her last two children, Edith Florence Handley (born 1928) and John Richard Handley (born 1933) were born at Glen Innes.

She was a life member of the Returned Servicemen's League Women's Auxiliary, for whom she visited sick patients and delivered cigarettes and sweets supplied by the Red Cross. She was given life membersip of the Red Cross for her services, and was president of its' Park Hill branch and also a life member of the Country Womens Association.

She died aged 69 from a heart attack at Sydney Hospital November 16th 1962 and was cremated at Northern Suburbs Crematorium Sydney Australia (Wall OA).
