GARDINER-Florence E. Gardiner, 97, passed away June 30, 2009 in Whittier, CA. She was born Florence E. Read in Curtis, Nebraska on October 8, 1911. She married Floyd T. Gardiner on February 17, 1934 in Kearney, Nebraska. She and her husband came to California in 1937. They were long time residents of Whittier. Through the years she was active in PTA and was a volunteer at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. She embroidered 7,600 cat faces on pi llows to be given to children who stayed at the hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to travel with family and friends. She enjoyed walking and had a great love of life and family. She is survived by daughters, Mary Jane Wallis (Wayne) and Sandra S. Schmidt. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brett Wallis, daughter Brittany, Marni Wallis Moore (Daniel) sons Cody Wallis, Kyle Wallis, Casey Moore, Kendra Jeffrey (Gary) son Keylan Jeffrey and Kylie Jeffrey. Preceded in death, son s Gary Allen Gardiner, Roger Charles Gardiner husband Floyd T. Gardiner and grandson Michael Lawrence Schmidt. Graveside services will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Gate 17 Whispering Pines on July 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM. The memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 6548 S. Newlin Ave., Whittier, CA at 2:00 PM following graveside services.
