U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, he engaged in agricultural pursuits, manufacturing and banking at Urbana, Ohio. He was president of the Urbana City Council, (1911-12) a member of the Ohio State Senate, (1921-22) and a member of the advisory committee of the War Finance Corporation, in 1921. In 1923, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1933. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his former business pursuits until his death at age 94.
