Monegasque Nobility. Known for taking power through the assassination of his older brother John II, he was the last of Lambert Grimaldi's children. He was Lord of Monaco (1505-1523) in a very turbulent period of the Principality during which continuous reversals of sovereignty followed. Lucien, in fact, was in turn assassinated by the son of his sister Frances after a 9-year regency of his brother Augustin, strongly desired by Louis XII. The causes and consequences of these events were the devastating interference in the politics of the Principality of France, Spain and the failed attempt of annexation by the Republic of Genoa (1507).
