U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Brown University Rhode Island, in 1822, was successful in manufacturing, founding the Taunton Copper Manufacturing Company in 1826 and was a member of the executive council of Massachusetts in 1849. In 1853, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he returned to his position at the Taunton Copper Manufacturing Company and was also president of the Taunton Locomotive Railroad Manufacturing Company until his death at age 78.
