Marissa passed away September 20, 2003, one day after her eighth birthday. She was a Chinese orphan who was adopted by the loving Burghart family.
On December 2002, she was diagnosed with a diffuse pontine glioma. She suffered a setback in May of this year which led to her passing.
Marissa was in the second grade. Her favorite color was purple. She loved art, horses and school, her birds, Baby and Sammy and her puppies, Linus and Lucy Lu.
