Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Company F, 36th Infantry, US Volunteers. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on November 5, 1899 between Calubud and Malalong, Philippine Islands. His citation reads "Alone and unaided, charged a body of 15 insurgents, dislodging them, killing four and wounding several."
