Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a prisoner of war. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company C, 3d Michigan Infanty. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania,Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of colors of 4th Georgia Battery (C.S.A.)."
