Radio Personality. He was a noted sound effects man for Garrison Keillor who hosted Minnesota Public Radio's "The Morning Show" as well as "A Prairie Home Companion." After high school, he served in the Marine Corps for four years and went on to earn a degree from the University of Minnesota in 1972. He started his career as an engineer for Keillor when he began his radio broadcast "The Morning Show," then later he joined Keillor on "A Prairie Home Companion," providing sound effects and appearing in skits that Keillor created. When Keillor moved to "A Prairie Home Companaion" full time, Keith co-hosted "The Morning Show," appearing in his alter ego of Jim Ed Poole, a role that was originally created by Keillor. He retired from "The Morning Show" in December 2008 but continued to provide sound effects for "A Prairie Home Companion." He appeared as himself in the 2006 Robert Altman movie "A Prairie Home Companion."
