US Congressman. During the Civil War, he served in the Confederate Army. He was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives. He was then elected to represent Georgia in the United States House of Representatives in 1893, and served until resigning in 1895. In an unusual turn of events, after resigning, he was elected to replace himself, serving from 1895 to 1897.
