Indian Wars Medal of Honor recipient. Served as a Private in Company A, 5th U.S. Cavalry. On March 25 and 27, 1873, he showed gallantry in action against hostile Indians near Turret Mountain, Arizona. His Medal was issued on April 12, 1875.
