He graduated from Marquette University, in 1926, attended Harvard Graduate School, Northwestern University Illinois and graduated from the law department of the University of Wisconsin, 1931. He was admitted to the bar in 1932 and commenced to practice law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Entering politics, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth and the Seventy-seventh Congresses, serving (1939-43). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he relocated to California and engaged in the real estate investment business in San Diego, until his death.
