Daughter of Memphis lawyer Julius A. Taylor and his wife, the former Margaret B. Ruffin, Fannie was named for her grandmother, Fannie Henderson of North Carolina. She married William Person Brown, a merchant, in 1894. They had two children: William P. Brown, Jr. and Louise Taylor Brown who later married James F. Ross.
